Standardisation
Getting a patent incorporated into a specific technical standard (for example, the technical specifications for a product or method prescribed by a body, such as DVD, MPEG, etc.)may result in substantial value added for your patent.
Due diligence
The value of a company resides increasingly in its intangible assets such as patents. Arnold + Siedsma can assess the technological and legal value of a company’s patent portfolio.
Valuation
The value of intellectual property can be determined. Arnold + Siedsma works together with, for example, accountants to do this.
The valuation can be used to estimate the value of a transfer of the patent, but also for the accurate assessment of possible licensing payments.
Pledging
A right of lien can be established on a patent. Your patent may therefore be used as a security when taking up a loan, for example. A right of lien is established by means of an entry in the patent register, which Arnold + Siedsma can arrange for you. If the right of lien is not recorded, or is not recorded correctly, in the register, the secured creditor may come away empty-handed.
The amount of the security depends of course on the commercial value of the patent. As well as determining this commercial value, Arnold + Siedsma can advise you on how to maximise this value.
