Divisional

One patent may only protect one invention (concept or solution).

Sometimes, it is beneficial to incorporate several inventions into one patent text. Some countries also permit the second invention to be protected at a later date with its own patent. This is referred to as a divisional. The divisional will co-exist with the original patent which protects the first invention.
