Profile:
Pim has been drafting patent applications at Arnold + Siedsma since 2009. He has substantial experience with start-up companies. Start-ups often have to contend with the fact that they can only request financing if a patent application exists. On the other hand, they can only produce this patent application if money is available. Pim helps to resolve this ‘chicken-and-egg situation’ by devising creative solutions, such as actively examining the cost situation. He also refers clients to relevant subsidies or expert organisations.
Pim studied Applied Sciences at Groningen University. He graduated with distinction in the field of instrumentation and informatics in physics, astronomy and space research. His research projects included a time-of-flight PET scan, a photodiode for aligning a particle beam, a detector for radiation detection in a space station and phototubes for neutrino detection by means of Cherenkov radiation. Pim has expertise in the field of sensors and the necessary associated data processing.
Pim regularly reviews the portfolios of clients who have a number of patents. In this way, the client obtains a clear overview of the current portfolio and Pim checks whether this still matches their activities, or whether it is necessary to apply for a new patent or allow an existing patent to expire.
Pim is not afraid to ask critical questions to ensure that he thoroughly understands the client’s technical invention, so that he can provide complete and clear advice on the patent application.

What others say about Pim:
Asks critical questions, looks for opportunities and communicates clearly and promptly
